Privacy policy

This is the privacy policy for adventureswithjenni.com and the hey, creature newsletter. The site and newsletter are run by Jenni Davies through Chill Creative LLC, a Wyoming company ("I", "me"). I keep this short and plain. If anything is unclear, email me.

What I collect

• When you sign up for hey, creature: your first name and email address.
• When you open or click my emails: whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, plus rough location based on your IP address. My email provider records this automatically.
• When you visit the site: basic usage data such as pages viewed, browser, device type, referring site and approximate location. My website host collects this with cookies and similar tools.
• When you email me: whatever you choose to include in your message.

How I use it

• To send you hey, creature and reply when you write back.
• To understand what people read so I can write better letters.
• To keep the site and my emails working, secure and within the law.

I don't sell your information, and I don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who helps me run things

A few services process data on my behalf, under their own privacy and security terms:

• Kit (ConvertKit) sends the newsletter and stores the subscriber list.
• Squarespace hosts this website and provides its analytics.
• Google Workspace handles my email. Google Search Console shows me how the site appears in Google search, in aggregate.

These services may store data in the United States or other countries.

Cookies

The site uses cookies that Squarespace needs to work, plus analytics cookies to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe any time with the link at the bottom of every email.
• Ask me to see, correct or delete the information I hold about you. Email me and I'll handle it within 30 days.
• Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have extra rights under local law, such as the right to data portability or to complain to a data protection authority. I honor those rights for everyone who asks.

How long I keep it

I keep your details while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, I may keep your email address on a suppression list so you aren't accidentally added back. Everything else is deleted or anonymized when it's no longer needed.

Kids

This site and newsletter aren't meant for anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, I'll update the date above and tell subscribers in a letter.
